Uplift group discussion

Uplift was a group process where we aimed to nurture confidence, ability and creative training approaches and encourage one another to share what we’ve learnt more widely.

Earth building is playing a practical and positive role in community regeneration, environmental awareness and sustainability, health and wellbeing, skills training and creativity.

EBUKI used its reach as a national organisation to bring together a group of individuals doing vital community work. With Uplift we aimed to support people who are reaching out, communicating and sharing the benefits of earth building with the widest range of people.

The Uplift group was formed of EBUKI Members from around the UK working in diverse urban and rural contexts. The trainers involved have a range of experience, some have more experience of working within community settings and others more experience of earth building skills.

Members of the group work with community partner organisations supporting people of all ages, ethnicities, states of health, neuro diversities, educational backgrounds, sexualities and genders.

The project aimed for those involved to strengthen and expand their earth building skills and develop their expertise as trainers for positive social impact.

Social Impact trainers that are using earth as a material are all working independently in the UK without obvious access to a strong network or appropriate peer support.

Uplift held an in-person train-the-trainers events in Todmorden.

The group is now self organising, having monthly zoom meetings to share their work with each other, and have also finalised the MoU for implementation of ECVET training through EBUKI.
