Our first big in-person Clayfest since the pandemic! Join us this summer.

Monday - Thursday: Clayfest workshops will offer a unique opportunity for manufacturers, designers, practitioners - anyone with a stake in the material culture - to enjoy getting hands-on with earth building methods and materials. Lunch included in your workshop ticket price!

In the evenings, warm informal pop-up sessions such as talks about particular projects or dorodango-making will make for further community connection building opportunities.

NEW Short workshop added: Intro to Earth with the EBUKI team

  • Thursday 18th 2pm-4pm

  • £30 Standard Admission plus booking fee

Maybe you’re coming to the conference and would like to arrive a day early, taking the opportunity to get hands-on and muddy…

WHICH SPEAKERS WILL IGNITE YOUR INSPIRATION?!

Friday: The Conference lineup is a rich and diverse mix of speakers from a range of disciplines. Lunch is included in your conference ticket price.

Stay on for extra evening enjoyment after the Conference - the Shindig will be a wonderful opportunity for networking and relationship nurturing across disciplines. Food will be served in the Elgiva Theatre cafe bar with DJ music playing, followed by entertainment from an exciting dynamic & experienced Latin group playing Salsa & Cuban music!

Get your tickets now - shindig ticket price increases to £25 once Clayfest has started…

Saturday: We plan to offer fascinating tours of the Brickworks factory and local earthen buildings. Locations, timeslots and co-ordination of travel (where needed) will be provided free of charge to Clayfest participants on the Friday during the conference.

There is camping, with compost loos and showers. A food van is being organised. We need to ensure the charity’s costs are covered and need to ask for a small daily payment for camping.

If you would prefer to find local accommodation please go ahead and arrange that yourself. There are places locally but they won't be as fun as the camping field!

Clayfest Activities 2015

Ebuki is at an exciting pivotal moment in its history, poised to alter the relationship between earth building and the wider construction community and culture. The circular economy of materials is more urgently front of mind now than ever before. Outside of earth building, the construction industry’s problems with toxic and polluting materials and practices are slowly being brought to light and must change.

The route to that change is through alternatives such as the contrasting healthy culture of earth building; now being taught in educational institutions through Ebuki’s impactful train the trainer model, which is now ripe to be scaled up and rolled out with much greater reach, backed up with the solid foundations of the ECVET and NVQ learning outcome units that Ebuki has developed.

After long pandemic online years, we are extremely grateful for the Patronage of H.G. Matthews which will allow Clayfest 2024 to happen.

My work has been isolating at times - this felt like a valuable support network as well as a place to make new contacts.
